David is perhaps best known for his highly visible and large scale mosaic projects that can be seen throughout Chicago and the general Midwest. Ranging from a few feet up to approximately 90 feet in length, the mosaics are multiplicitous in their content and modes of execution. From hospitals to public transit stations, the overall feeling one is left with after experiencing the pieces is simple joy. In order to successfully realize these projects, David draws upon various sources of visual inspiration, looking to nature, human diversity, community, and even needlepoint patterning. As a result, the crisp, graphic results are distinctly his own, contributing to and improving the spaces which they serve.
